Pastor and Father Seeking New Helpmeet

Zealous, committed, intense, funny. I am loyal, devotedly confessional, hardworking, fatherly, loving, romantic, intentional, impetuous, forgiving, fun, funny, creative, a visionary, musical, artistic, friendly, conversational, leading, manly, loud, extremely affectionate and sometimes clingy, frugal, generous, frank, direct, encouraging, exhaustive, exhausting, careful to research and then completely committed in action, courageous, self-sacrificing, earnest, intense, devoted, consistent, open, a conversationalist. When tired or stressed I can be impatient, petty, melancholy, overbearing, but quick to repent and ask for forgiveness (you'll want to check about this with my children to make sure I'm not a tyrant and more of the "troll" that needs to be sent back to his cave at times when he should be going to bed). I think a good way to understand me is to study John Knox both behind the pulpit as a fiery preacher and as a tender pastor and family man with his church, wife, and children. Also, two books that define my commitments and efforts as a husband, father, and pastor are Stu Webber's, Tender Warrior, and Richard Phillips', The Masculine Mandate.

Relative to the context of the purpose of this site (and my becoming a member), another way I've described things is that my late-wife was a bit of a chummy "Eeyore" and I am a bit of a melancholy "Tigger".

Goal in lifeMainly, to raise faithful covenant children who serve Christ's Church, and to find a new helpmeet for mutual service and love. Also, To read through Thomas Manton's collected writings in our church's library (20+ volumes). To get better at playing guitar through DVD resources. To get back to live performance and new songwriting as well as to play around with drawing and other forms of art again. I've also always wanted to become a nerdy birder.

Look for in a partnerI am looking for a new helpmeet with my four children (two girls, 14 and 12; two boys, 9 and 4) and church after we lost my late-wife to cancer a little more than a year ago. I would prefer someone near my age and season of life. I value someone who is vulnerable, transparent, approachable, sincere, and seriously looking to be married. I enjoy in others (thinking of a potential wife and pastor's wife) someone who is modest, meek, sweet, transparent (my favorite quality about my late-wife), thoughtful, theological (my other favorite quality about my late-wife), silly, someone who can laugh (one of the things I miss most about my late-wife, her infectious and various giggles), friendly, frank, clever, open, considerate, loyal, a thinker, a reader, a singer, deep, simple, a nature-lover, outdoorsy, forthright, forgiving, frugal, generous, feminine. Someone who you don't need to try and figure out. It also is important for a lady we would consider to be a member of a branch of the Visible Church in formal covenant oversight and discipleship with her pastor and elders and actively involved with the church family. Also, she will be committed or quick to consider a classic covenant-driven Christian confession and familiar with its parts and practicalities (preferably the original Westminster Standards, but not the London Baptist Confession).
On the first dateWhatever the lady would prefer. But I usually think of talking over coffee to get acquainted in a casual and public area. Walks are great.
